Bio

Tucked away in the mid-eastern prairie fields of Alberta is singer songwriter Florence Foxwell. Along side her husband, they operate a 33-hundred acre farm and have been farming for over 40 years. Working with and being connected to the land, is what has enabled her to create her original music of contemporary folk, infused with the sounds of country, pop, and rock. 

While most musicians and songwriters discover the craft at an early age, Florence’s spin in the world of music did not begin until later in life when she started using music as a way to creatively express her life experiences and feelings about world events. In the years since, she has released two full-length CDs. The first CD, Open Windows, was released in 1999, giving listeners an opportunity to experience her music when she was just beginning to discover a new world of expression. Her follow-up CD, entitled Outside The Box, dropped in 2004, telling the story of her continued growth as an artist.

Florence has also been recognized for her work in respected international songwriting competitions including honourable mentions in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the 10th International Billboard Songwriting Contest. Her single  I Try, earned her a 2nd place finish in the Unisong International Song Contest’s Artists and Performance category while another single, Outside The Box, placed in the Top 20 of the competition’s category for songs examining social issues.

Her singles Human and This Is My Alberta dropped in 2017, and newly recorded Deceived (Instrumental) in 2025. Florence will be releasing a brand new single Not Today  in early 2026.

Additionally, she loves to travel and has visited popular destinations such as Greece, Turkey, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, China, Egypt, Jordan, Israel and the United States.

Florence is a member of AMIA (Alberta Music Industry Association), SAC (Songwriting Association of Canada), SOCAN (Society of Composers Authors and Music Publishers of Canada), and CARAS (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences).
